Scandinavian Braided Trim

Braided Trim

This easy braided trim is ubiquitous in Scandinavian mittens. I found the stitch in Mary Ann Stephens’ free Chrysanthemum Mittens pattern and have re-printed it here. It uses a main color (A) and a contrast color (B).

First Row: Knit as follows; *K1 (A), K1 (B)* continue around.

Second Row: Purl, bringing working yarn OVER previously worked yarn; *P1 (A), P1 (B)* continue around.

Third Row: Purl, bringing working yarn UNDER previously worked yarn; *P1 (A), P1 (B)* continue around.

Braid pattern complete.
